Graphic designers have always found ways to organise themselves: outside institutions or the market. From print shops to lecture series, bookshops and collaborative ventures: self-organisation is a lasting and creative response to a changing landscape. In this edition of It's All Graphic, we explore how designers initiate their own platforms, publications and spaces, and what drives them to do so. What can we learn from examples from the past, and how do designers continue to shape the conditions of their own practice in an ever-changing field?

‘It's All Graphic’ is a series of events on graphic design, addressing its cultural and social impact. It is co-produced between the Wim Crouwel Institute and Pakhuis de Zwijger, and supported by NADD (Netwerk Archieven Design en Digitale Cultuur). The Wim Crouwel Institute investigates the heritage, current and future position of Dutch graphic design.
